The Property, Surrounding area, and of course, Surfing
Playa Hermosa is a pristine volcanic beach approximately 2 miles long located just 10 minutes south
of Jaco Beach. Jaco lies just 90 minutes from the capital city of San Jose on the Pacific coast.
There is a new highway being constructed that will cut that time in half. The Jaco Beach area is
possibly the most happening area in Costa Rica with very strong residential areas, commercial centers,
restaurants and Hotels. There is an active nightlife and world-class surfing.

Surfing encompasses over 20% of the tourist trade in Costa Rica today with nearly
100,000 surfers heading to Costa Rica yearly. Hermosa is rated as one of the most consistent
year round surfing areas in the world and has hosted a number of international competitions.
The waves in Playa Hermosa area vary from friendly to quite serious. There is almost
always a wave to ride in Playa Hermosa. If it is to large or serious there are many
other waves in the nearby area to surf, and our surf tours will get you on them early.
There are a lot of surfers in Costa Rica, but finding uncrowned waves is quite common.
The waves behind the Hermosa Surf Club are breaking on sand and vary from 2-12 feet plus.
Most often the waves are chest high to 2 feet overhead.
Great waves and the tubes you’re looking for while the water is almost always 80 degrees.
